Technical Writer - Compact Workweek (3 days)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to join our team on a part-time basis, working 3 days per week.
The ideal candidate will have experience with writing documentation for telecoms network software products and proficient using tools such as MS Office, Confluence, Site Generators, Git, Markdown for documentation creation and life cycling. You will collaborate closely with engineering and product departments to create and maintain clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
Role and Key Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and maintain technical documentation for our product suite, including: Release notes, Architecture and System guides, Application user guides, Installation and configuration guides, Interface Specifications and Configuration guides
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to extract complex technical information and translate it into reader-friendly content.
- Write and format content using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Write and format content using Markdown and manage version-controlled documentation using Git.
- Organize, manage and support technical documentation projects to meet deadlines and deliver timely documentation for product releases along with any subsequent revisions/ updates.
- Review and edit documentation for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Create diagrams, flowcharts, and other visual aids to enhance understanding of technical content.
- Collect and incorporate feedback from users to improve documentation quality and usability.
- Ensure documentation aligns with company standards, styles, branding and formatting in drafts prior to final publication to PDF.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in an engineering or telecommunications environment.
- Highly skilled in using MS Office365 Applications
- Familiar with Atlassian Products Jira and Confluence
- Proficiency in using Git for documentation versioning and collaboration.
- Solid experience writing in Markdown.
- Familiarity with telecom network technologies and products
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex systems and workflows.
- Experience working in high velocity agile environment.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Beneficial Expertise:
- Experience with static site generators (e.g., Docsy, Hugo).
- Understanding of YAML, JSON, or API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated documentation deployment.
This role is based at our office in Dublin 2 and reports to the Program Manager.
